Kuje prison break: Minister of Interior Lt.Gen. Dambazau orders immediate security beef up


Following the escape of two inmates from Kuje prison last week, the Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdurahaman Dambazau (rtd) on Monday, June 27, ordered immediate security beef up at the Kuje Medium prisons and all other prisons across the country. Dambazau gave the order in Abuja shortly after an on-the-spot assessment of the Kuje prisons in Abuja. The two inmates standing trial for murder were said to have escaped from the prison on Fridayand are still at large.

Fleeing Boko Haram terrorists now disguise as vigilantes and hunters - DHQ


Defence Headquarters on Monday said it has discovered that Boko Haram terrorists fleeing from Sambisa Forest now disguise as vigilantes and hunters in order to evade arrest. Below is the statement issued by the Director of Defence Information, Bri.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, in Abuja:

"Following the coordinated military offensive against the remnants of Boko Haram Terrorists in Sambisa forest, the fleeing terrorists now disguise as vigilantes or hunters to evade easy detection. The terrorists, after being smoked out of Sambisa forest, in their desperation to wreak havoc on innocent Nigerians and to remain relevant, devised a new tactics of dressing like vigilantes or hunters to deceive unsuspecting members of the public of their true identity.

Pres. Buhari congratulates British/Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua

President Buhari has congratulated British/Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua for winning the IBF Heavyweight championship. The president in his congratulatory message asked Nigerians to support him as he defends his heavyweight title.

The statement from President Buhari came through his Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora and Foreign Relations, Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa. Joshua is ranked the world’s sixth best heavyweight boxer and will be defending his title by June 25th, 2016.

Photos: 3 Cameroonian soldiers killed by Boko Haram militants in Dabanga bordering Nigeria

Three Cameroonian army personal, including one officer, were killed on Monday night, April  18in the country's far-North region by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

Army source told Xinhua on Wednesdaymorning said that the three soldiers (Lieutenant Njilie and another pictured ) from Rapid Intervention Battalion, a special unit of Cameroon's army were ambushed when they were on a monitoring mission in Dabanga bordering Nigeria.
